Advisory Board Member
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Lorraine “Louie” Gunther earned her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Urban/Ethnic Studies and Afro-Caribbean Dance from SUNY Binghamton. In 1977, she moved with her husband’s family to California, where she built a successful career as an Office Manager for several environmental firms.

Since retiring in 2015, Louie has embraced a vibrant and active lifestyle that includes creating batik art, listening to bluegrass music, camping, gardening, traveling, walking, and enjoying water aerobics and swimming. During one of her swim classes, her instructor Yassir organized a trip to his homeland of Morocco. On that trip, Louie met Bridget Glidden, a GVI Advisory Member, who introduced her to Suzan. Together, they organized GVI’s very first fundraising event at Bridget’s home.

Louie considers it both an honor and a privilege to be part of Greater Vision International - Uganda. She is deeply inspired by the organization’s work and finds it profoundly gratifying to witness the positive transformation happening in the Sogolelo community in real time.
